The other posters have suggested some good things to check, but depending on what other cars you've been driving, there's another possibility...

Have you driven lightweight sports cars before? They are MUCH more responsive to control inputs than the average car (that's why they're fun to drive) and if you're not used to this behavior, it can seem "twitchy." On a well-set-up Sonett, steering response happens *right now*, which can seem wobbly if you're used to a normal car that responds more gradually to small twitches of the wheel. And because a Sonett is short and light, rear-end movement is much more closely coupled to front-end movement -- when you make a lane change, the rear follows the front almost immediately, rather than after a bit of a lag as on most cars, and this quick response can make it feel as if the rear is trying to break loose.

This may or may not be possible where you live, but the best thing to do would be to drive somebody else's Sonett, one that's in good shape, and compare it to yours. That way you'll be sure whether yours is wonky or whether it just responds more quickly than you're used to.

Don't take this to mean that a properly set-up Sonett is supposed to be twitchy or hard to control. On the contrary, they're among the most solid and predictable lightweights, with no real handling vices. The suspension on my Sonett is completely street stock (right down to the skinny 155-15 tires) and I have no qualms or problems driving it on road-racing tracks during open track days at speeds approaching 100 mph.
