My 68 acted somewhat the same at high speeds on freeways with the grooves cut in them. I guess the grooves are for better traction on wet rainy days. The rear semed to wonder back and forth even while going in a straight line. Replaced the very old rear shocks with KYBs and it totally whent away and definately handles much better. Fronts next.
