...pics were very helpful. I realized that the lever arm to the carb is a non-issue. I own a MIG welder. All I need to do is tack weld a new arm in the proper orientation to the old one. That will allow me to also re-use the stock pull rod. If not, I can make a pull rod from a thick coat hanger, then re-use the stock clips as a locking mechanism. Amazing what a night to sleep and reflect does for the mind.
The carb base is not warped. There is an adjustment screw hitting the adapter plate. With 2 thick custom cut gaskets, this problem should disappear. Again, a night with sleep and solutions just become obvious.
I still need to figure out how to make the FoMoCo adapter plate provide suction to the advance on the distributer. The suction takeoff almost abuts the distributer, and the provided orifice is too large. I will need to find a custom smaller orifice.
The generic K+N aircleaner is too tall. I think I will take a mold of the existing end surface, cut the claener down to size, then get gasket material, fill the mold, place small rubber spacers in there to prevent the cut end from bottoming out, and press the cut surface of the air cleaner into it, and let it dry for 2-3 days.
