93 9000 CSE traction control sys. problem
Posted by Tim Robertson (more from Tim Robertson) on Wed, 10 May 2000 09:30:54
Help!
My 93 9000 CSE, usually error free, is in the local authorized Saab dealer/shop and destined to stay there unless I can find the answer to a traction control system mystery.
I recently had a complete brake job done and immediately afterwards, while driving it home, I experienced the first of several complete power losses (power loss, not engine stoppage). The TCM light went on, along with the 'check engine' light, and the accelerator went dead, RPMs dropped to idle and I glided through the intersection. The remedy to the problem was a quick restart.
An assortment of engine codes have been found, but 'they don't add up,' and 'there are too many codes showing up to point to a single source' of the problem, according to the mechanic. Also, a visual inspection of the brakes, TC sensors (on the wheel assembly, I assume) has been done, and they've driven the car but haven't been able to repeat the problem.
Yes, I know, 'find another mechanic,' but this is the legitimate regional expert and the car isn't currently safe to drive a long distance.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
