Strange Alarm behavior
Posted by aob (more from aob) on Thu, 18 May 2000 21:10:11
The LED in the driver's speaker grill on my '96 9000 Aero has never lit.
I never bothered to take the time to find out if the LED has just failed
or the Alarm is in some other then intended mode. I live and work in
'nice' low car theft areas, with some 'more desirable car' always around.

So I haven't been worried, but out of habit, and in appreciation of my
frequent trips to NYC in the past I've always locked the car using the
remote.

Well, today was the last day for that; the remote started flaking out,
its range severely impaired, and so I replaced the batteries. The remote
failed to function at all after that. I hit the left (lock/unlock)
button 5 times in rapid succession as the manual states to re-'phase' the
transmitter. This failed to make any change.

so does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on?

Sincerely,
Austin O'Brien
