Clutch Master Cylinder

>The reasons for the questions are, I think the dealer may be trying to
scam me. My car took over 2 hours to be returned to me from the time they
said it left the dealership. This is a 20 minutes journey. I have since
found out about other bad experiences from other people about this dealer
so I need technical advice before taking my next step.<

The master or slave can will fail independently of each other although if
the failure is brought about by poor fluid it is likely both will fail
eventually. It's difficult to come up with a scenario in which an outside
force will bring about the failure, so perhaps it was coincidental.
Consider yourself fortunate that you found a shop to do the repair much
more reasonably than the original quote.
