Main problem is gearbox related - the original seized up last year and had it replaced by a reconditioned effort by some people who appeared not to know what they were doing ( long story ).
Net result is that shifting down from 3rd to 2nd is really tricky ( Knackered synchro ? ) Also ( may be unrelated to the cowboys ) the engine mountings appear to have gone so there is a definite bump of engine when you change gears. ( The cowboys failed to originally tighten these when I originally had it 'fixed' so that I had 2 distributor caps blow up on me because of a madly moving engine ....
