The switch is adjustable, you probably only need to adjust it a bit/ Two closely appearing switches attach there, one to each side, black plastic attached with two Torx screws. One is the Neutral safety ( left side, I think, been a while since I've had to adjust one) and the the other is the gear indicator selector.
Pull up the console and then loosen the two screws. Select Neutral and adjust the switch so the pointer aligns with the notch. Try to start it in Neutral Park and Drive. It might need to be tweaked a little from there to start where it should and not where it shouldn't.
