Alex,
Yes your bulb has gone. There are two elements in a headlight bulb, one does low and mid beam, and the other does the high beam. Its possible for a bulb to begin to consume different levels of current as the element is starting to expire. Its possible that your weak element was doing this, this is enough to trigger the warning lights on the dash.
Change both bulbs, as the other one is probably near the end of its life anyway. Your problem will go away.
