rear speaker installation
Posted by sid (more from sid) on Thu, 4 Jan 2001 08:28:11
Need some advice. Want to replace the rear speakers in my '90 900 convertible. They are located behind the left and right side panels.
Is there an easier way to get to them without pulling the rear seat. The velour insert and grill in the panels don't appear to be pop outs.
If I've got to pull the rear seat, the bench is easy but the back is problematic. It appears that the only bolts holding the back are located at the bottom below and aft of the bench (2) and behind and higher up on the back. The latter two bolts appear to be accessible through two slits in the carpeting covering the back of the seat. Are there any other bolts or hardware I should be looking for? Also, once the bench and back are out exposing the side panels, are the only torx screws securing the panels located on their face or are any hidden?
Finally, has anyone mounted larger rear speakers, or subwoofers, in any other location other then the side panels in this vintage convertible?
Thanks
Sid
