very high idle [saabnow]

Message from Ketil Danielsen Subject: very high idle ================= My 2.3i 900S (Feb 1994, bought new in the US) gets this very annoyingly high idle now and then. When I start the engine, it begins at about 3000 rpm, slowly rising as long as I don't engage the clutch, drive, or shut the engine off to avoid neighbor complaints (gets hard to diagnose the problem in the driveway) ... it can do this for 2 or 3 days, then disappear for a while.
A year ago I replaced the (vacuum?) hose between the 'engine top' and the intake, which fixed this problem until it reappeared a month ago. There are no visibly worm wires or hoses.
Several FAQs/HOW-TOs describe 'hitting the AIC gently',
Several FAQs/HOW-TOs describe 'hitting the AIC gently', 'checking the coolant temperature sensor wire', 'measuring ohm across the AIC' etc, but I am not sure if it relates my car -- what is the engine management system specification of this car (2.3 i 900s, 1994)?
Anyone? Thanks.
