EDU Error message [saabnow]

Recently I have been getting a display of 'Err' when I switch on the
ignition of my 91 9000CD

The battery was getting a bit long in the tooth (4 years) as I noticed that
the voltage would momentarily indicate 9.0v before switching to 14.1

Even with new battery the error code is present.

How do I correct?
