HELP - Need to a safe place to drill for a drain plug [saabnow]
Posted by The Saab Network (more from The Saab Network) on Mon, 2 Dec 2002 11:36:41
Message from Mike Oberle Subject: HELP - Need to a safe place to drill for a drain plug ================= After thoroughly cleaning the bottom of my motor I uncovered a sin of the PO (previous owner).
For whatever reason (curb, debris in the road) that the engine drain plug corner of the transmission case sustained damage. The repair basically consists of a JB Weld patch covering most of that corner. The problem is that the patch covered the original drain plug hole. The patch doesn't leak and I don't want to disturb it until I can replace the transmission case.
I need to drill a new drain plug hole further to the rear on the case and want to know where a safe point to drill for a 1/8'-NPT pipe plug is located.
>From all the diagrams I can find this appears to be the sump area of the motor but I cannot find where the oil pickup or other items may be located.
Thanks !
