Message from AlanCrosby Subject: Re: 85 900 with 5 spd ================= Maybe you already know this, but it's worth a chance. There is an alignment process for the shift rod. Basically you loosen the clamp on the shift rod in the engine bay and then go thru the alignment process. Don't have my Benteley manual with me, so I can't give you detailed instructions. I can say it differs by year. I aligned an '83. The manual tells you which gear to be in when doing the alignment. Then strip the carpet back from the front of the console. There is a hole in the hollow rod connected to the shift lever. There is a hole in the shift lever. Put a drift in the hole and tighten the clamp in the engine bay.
