Idle Control Valve
Posted by scottb2460 (more from scottb2460) on Sun, 26 Sep 1999 10:31:32
Hey folks,
Excuse my description but had a small item come up today. My idle has been fluctuating too much and the shop said it was likely a clogged idle control valve. So I unplugged and sprayed carb cleaner into the plastic piece which goes into the metal valve cover on top of the engine and has the two hoses (one big/one small) going into it. Well the little plastic piece that the top hose is connected to (some switching system that controls the air flow?) broke and the plastic is still inside the hose. The car still runs but I assume this is now a vacume leak of somekind.
So, my questions are does the symptom sound like a sticking idle control? And how do I get the remaining plastic pieces out of the hose so I can put the new one in? Thanks!
