Retrieving 'Check Engine' Codes
Posted by Pat McKenty (more from Pat McKenty) on Mon, 27 Sep 1999 09:28:22
All,
I own a 93 9000 CS non-turbo. I was cruising down the highway the other day when suddenly the engine lurched and the 'Check Engine' light came on. The engine resumed its operation and the light went out a few moments later. Yesterday I took the car out and had trouble keeping the idle above 5K on the tach. Again the 'Check Eninge' light came on. I called my local dealer today and they said that some codes may have been written. They want $75 to retrieve them and interpret them. My question to you all is: Can I retrieve them myself?? And, assuming I am able to get them, how do I interpret them.
TIA
pat
