Sonett - Sudden Rough Running
Posted by R. Scott V. Paterson (more from R. Scott V. Paterson) on Fri, 8 Oct 1999 09:46:21
A week after I got my Sonett back on the road (broken door latch spring), I was out fetching some lunch when all of sudden the car started to run poorly. One second it was fine, the very next it was running somewhat rough and would stall out (not hold idle) unless I kept giving it gas. I'm going to attack it after work today, but here's my prelim checklist (in order of likelihood):
1. a vacuum leak, 2. bad sparkplug(s) 3. a bad wiring connection, 4. a dirty rotor cap, or 5. bad points 6. a failing carb
I can check and work on these things myself, being a novice. Any other suggestions on things to check? There's a road rally in the Bay Area on Saturday (hosted by the local Porsche owner's club, but open to all) that I'd like to compete in and I'd rather go in the Sonett than the 900.
Thanks,
-Scott
