Replacing transmission.
Posted by Philip Hult (more from Philip Hult) on Mon, 6 Dec 1999 10:52:05
The time has come. The pinion bearing on the 5spd tranny in my 90 9000 CD
Turbo is grinding. As I get my checkbook out, and am reminded of how much I
hate doing this, I thought I'd throw a question to the masses.

Since I am having the tranny replaced ($2k), I'll be having the clutch
serviced (new plate, spring etc..), since my mechanic is already down there
($250). Additionally, I recently replaced the clutch master cylinder and
noticed that the fluid was pretty dirty, so I figure it may make sense to
change the slave cylinder too, ($150). Any one else have any other
thoughts/additions to the to-do list?

Also, does anyone know where I can get a rebuilt from somewhere other than
SAAB, (I'd hate to give them $1650!).

Thanks.

Philip Hult
