Sorry to hear about the death of your pinion bearing. Seems to be an freak event in a 9000, unlike the 900 where it's pretty much inevitable.
I swapped my 900 5-speed (with toasted pinion bearing, and then some) for an Ericsson rebuild. Cost was $1250. Served me very well until a wall crushed my front end at 70mph, along with EVERYTHING in it. The sleeping moron behind the wheel (me!) was not injured.

Family just got expanded last week, and we're starting to feel the squeeze in the back of our '92 900. We need another vehicle.
I think somewhere back, it was mentioned that the Saab wagon was not going to offer the third row seats in the cargo area. Is that a safety reason being in the crush zone of the car? Do any of the Volvos offer this?
