My fear is that this me-too phase is not just a phase, but the permanent future of SAAB. Like bamaSAAB's posting below, I too have heard that there are no longer enough engineers at SAAB in Sweden to design a totally new model. I'm afraid that "SAAB" may just become just a brand name placed on slightly modified Opels, Subarus, and/or other models from the overall GM stable.
GM Marketing doesn't seem to know what it wants. Now they are going to build a small Cadillac at Trollhatten, to be sold only in Europe. The article I read says it will be based on the current 9-3, but modified to look more like the U.S. Cadillacs. If SAAB is supposed to be GM's European premium brand, why would they want to start selling small Cadillacs to compete with SAAB in its own market?
