No real surprise there. I have them in 195/60/15 on my '87 9000, which, while not a 9^5 Aero, still has plenty of extra torque to put out. At last dyno, about 230 lb-ft at the wheels, so figure 255-ish at the crank, being conservative. Now, I'm a pretty mild mannered driver on winter tires, but here around Seattle, we don't see snow but maybe one week (cumulative) of the year, sometimes none at all. I made it a point to go up in the mountains last year and do some actual hard packed snow/ice driving after I got my NRW's, and I was highly impressed. Easily far better than some Cooper studded weathermaster snow tires I had previously on the snow, no doubt not quite as good on ice, but that's extremely rare here even in the mountains.
On bare roads, the NRW I think is quite good. No, it's not an ultra high performance summer tire, but the handling is very predictable, and the levels of grip really are surprisingly high on dry road cornering. On wet roads, they're excellent, if a bit noisy. I would have no qualms about using this as my only tire, if for some reason I could only have one set, while living in a place that got frequent snow.
After about 6000 miles of almost entirely bare road use, they still look new. According to Nokian (think Gary mentioned something about a 50,000 warranty?), they are among the longest lived snow tires on the market.
The only thing I don't like about them is the price, but that's better than price being the only thing I do like... :)
