I bought this car as a restoration project, it came on a trailer without the ignition key but it turned out it didn't matter since the engine wouldn't start. A little tricky to maneuver but with a garage jack we could get it into the shop. A lock smith made the ignition key which unlocked the steering for easier maneuvering but no starting of the engine. So after two years of working on it, a SAAB shop offered to make the engine run again and fixed the brakes and their hydraulic piping. The former owner passed while in the midst of the restoration so his brother (not a car guy) advertised it. A new Weber Tipo 34 ICH carburetor and fuel pump were installed and after the fuel filter was turned around, the engine started. It is fun to drive and the exhaust sound is great emulating a more fancy sports car.

Very early 1970 Sonett for restoration. The car is complete and has most of the original paint. The chassis is very good but will need some repairs. The engine is not frozen and car had low miles when stored. It has nice original steel wheels. It will require mechanical work and is not ready to be driven. I have title for the car and I bought it from original family.

1967 SAAB Sonett with rare wood dash. Rebuilt engine and transmission by previous owner. Everything works as it should (freewheel on the transmission is locked out). MSS exhaust with additional MSS glasspack. New brake rotors and brakes. Rebuilt brake and clutch master cylinders. It has had the floors and rockers replaced. I have two white Sonetts currently and am needing only one.

This Sonett has enjoyed a recent restoration with some additions--a new Weber carb, Monza exhaust (which sounds great), soccer ball rims/new tires, new upholstery and new leather seats. Car was painted the fall of 2016 with a high quality base coat/clearcoat. Engine was rebuilt and the transaxle seals replaced with a functioning free-wheeling option. Back glass in beautiful condition, new window seals and door wipes. Vin number is 000464.

Selling my beloved Sonett after 34 years. Second owner. Purchased in 1983 at 119,000 miles. None of my SAAB enthusiast children are interested or capable of keeping the car so I want to sell it to someone who can appreciate the work done and enjoy the car as much as I have. Car has won numerous awards at various conventions and car shows and has always received rave reviews and acclaim from attendees. Finished a full ground up restoration in the spring of 1988. Restoration consisted of total disassembly. Every piece of sheet metal on the under structure of the car that was available from SAAB at the time was replaced. Priming of all metal parts was done using CORALAR primer as per Saab Guru Bill Jacobsen's recommendation given at the 1985 convention in Delaware. Engine totally disassembled and rebuilt. New valves and seats to deal with unleaded gas. New Isky camshaft for enhanced performance. Carb work and tuning done by Andy Bittenbinder, local tuning expert and Saab enthusiast. Automatic choke replaced with manual choke. Much more detail work done too. New battery this past September. Transmission rebuilt by J&B Imports (Bud Clark) in California in 1999. New bearings, seals and gaskets, etc. Invoice with parts breakdown available. Brakes, hoses, seals, rotors, drums, etc all replaced. Have some new misc. parts from Jack Ashcraft in my inventory that would be included along with factory Sonett manual and Saab parts microfiche and reader. Complete documentation of all work done included with sale of car. Car was originally Pumpkin Orange. Now painted in the VERY VERY rare SAAB Pearlescent White, only used on the eight 1985 SPG prototype cars. My wife and I had the use of one of these SPG's for two weeks on our honeymoon in Sweden that summer and I fell in love with the color. Wheels are painted to match. Paint job is unbelievable and can only be appreciated in person. Car changes color in the sunlight. Unlike any other pearlescent that you have ever seen before. Interior seats reupholstered in fabric very similar to factory. New radio and speakers. Side and rear windows tinted a slightly darker shade of gray to highlight the paint. I believe this car may be one of the finest examples of this model in existence. Only known issue is an undiagnosed slight oil leak. Selling car as is with this issue. Serious inquiries only please. Additional photos upon request.

Current condition: After a 5 year restoration and a few years of driving the car has sadly sat outside for years and is in need of another restoration. The bottom of the trunk has a lot of rust around the edges where the galvanizing wore off during welding. The driver seat has some tears and both seats are faded. Windshield in cracked badly. Carpet is faded. Floor pan has some rust in front of the cross member and is quite rusted out between the cross member and the rear axle. The good thing about that is that section is just a flat sheet through there and fairly easy to replace. Engine compartment has some rust. Engine was started on 1/15/17 after a jump, new set of points and a little starting fluid. (Gas in tank is years old and we didn’t want to run that into the engine). Idled nicely. Exhaust is rusty and tail muffler is missing but we do have a custom made stainless muffler that goes with the car. Body isn't perfect but has held up pretty well for 42 year old fiberglass. These pictures were shot in Jan of 2017 except the one showing you how it looked right after I restored it in 1989. If it was in great shape, I would be asking quite a bit. As it needs a fair amount of work, I am willing to let I go to some who would be willing to restore it. As it is not 100% stock I know it doesn’t appeal to everyone but I do think it actually came out pretty well. There is a lot of very unique, custom styling and engineering in here that would be a the price above for it as is but negotiable. No trades. History: * Purchased in 1985. * Restoration / customization completed 1989. * Flip front end / removed pop up lights and portal hood. * Headlights recessed behind Lexan covers fir around original grill. * The rockers and sub-rockers are all stainless steel. * Rear spoiler. * Custom front air dam with recessed turn signals and road lights. * Custom intake - ported and polished and adapted to 2-Barrel Weber. * MSD ignition / Accel Supercoil. * + / - 100 HP. * Full photo album documenting the restoration. * Looking for a good home that will restore it again. I just bought this car on eBay as I always thought they were cool. Unfortunately after purchasing and waiting for transport, the owner of a car I was looking at locally contacted me and accepted an offer I made weeks ago. Couldn't pass it up and don't have room for both. Saab Sonett 3 with good running V4 cylinder engine and manual transmission. Needs new brake wheel cylinders and clutch is slipping; come with new clutch and pressure plate as well as brake wheel cylinders. Has box of extra parts including some new lights, original tools with bag, jack and spare. Has all 4 OEM wheels, rust in trunk area and has an extra bonnet. Car drove on and off of truck transport using ebrake; rear wheel cylinder is a little sticky as stated and clutch slips. I have a clear CA title, vehicle is on a non-op so no back CA DMV fees (have report from DMV that shows no fees) does not need CA smog since pre-1976. See on Ebay:
