Speaker question

Hi,
I've just bought my first ever Saab a 1996 9000 CDt Ecopower, and I'm loving it!
As a bit of a car audio fan, I'm looking to upgrade the front speakers and I was
wondering if anyone knows how big a speaker can be fitted under dash grills? My
local car audio shop hasn't got any experience with 9000's and they have guessed
that only 4' ones will fit, as I've already got a pair of (expensive) 5', I'm
keen to prove they wrong! My local Saab dealer has proved to be less than
useful.
I've looked at removing the grills and looking myself, but they're held in place
with some small nasty 'star' headed screws which I haven't got a tool for.
