Jack,
I am about to purchase a new blower motor for my wife's '88 9kS.
The Bosch part number is 0 130 111 008.
You can pay anywhere from $75 (wholesale) to $200 for this motor, but it's
the recommended OEM replacement unit.
There was one that sold on Ebay a few days ago for about $80 - NEW that is.
Go to the completed-items search page, and look up
'saab fan' in item description.
This winter, our 137k-mile motor would make relatively loud squealing noises
at medium speeds - not '1' or '3'. The heater core is also weeping just a
little bit. It's inconsequential in warm weather, but a concern
nonetheless. I will most likely buy a heater core kit from Townsend
Imports, and do a fan/core/AC-recharge in the very near future.
