It wasn't plowed. So? Must... watch... trains!

Album: C900 Maintenance, etc. | Building the "Ultimate Winter Car"
Read the '85 brochure, there are no 'ultimate' somethings or other. Here's trying anyway!
This album contains 11 photos and 0 albums.

In The Beginnig
Start out with a 900. In this case, '88 number 2290. Automatic: Boring, Sloooooow, Thirsty. Manual windows, steel wheels, and rear wheel parking brakes are a plus.

Step 1: Sex Change
Step 1: Lose the slushbox when it quit shifting in the cold. This conversion is an instant 8 MPG.

Step 2: Shoes
FOUR new Hakka 2s! No studs-I run studless so I can still stop in dry weather. These are my favorite snowshes!

Step 3B: Rack Up The Miles
16 January 2007, on boring old Route 31.

Step 4A: Washer Accessories
This chunk of brass is Saab part number 02 04 008, a washer fluid heater. It's a heat exchanger in the upper radiator hose, with the AC cutout thermo now gone. Use that, orange washer fluid, and a 2-outlet squirter on the pass. side from a junkyard car.

Step 4B: Have Some More Fun
Valentine's Day 2007- State offices remain open until the Governor tells us to go home. Okay!

Step 5: Cooling System Changes
To get the heat back, I changed back to an 89 degree thermostat. To aid in those cold overnights, I ordered BK 605-3243 from Napa. It's identical to the long-gone Saab part (02 72 138). Thanks to Flatbobkat for the part reference!

Step 6A: (shudders) Pimp?
But honestly, the fog lights are for POOR VISIBILITY ONLY, and they are aligned. The spoiler is for gas mileage and snow deflection. I hope I don't break it off.

Step 6B: Have Still Yet Even More Fun
As of 19 November 2007, this one is still up for grabs. Given our storied overuse of chlorides, I'm surprised.
