I personally do not like the looks of the G35 – not sure why, just think it's ugly. However, it always gets very good reviews and is often compared to the BMW regarding driving characteristics. Of course, you need to evaluate it yourself assuming you can live with the styling.
I think the 9-3 is the best looking 4-door sedan that real-people money can buy in the US (the Maserati Quattroporte is number one in my list) but as with everything, there are compromises. Great car if you plan to rent (er, lease) it but if you plan on purchasing the resale value is virtually non-existent.
I would also suggest driving the new 330. The styling is a bit overdone but it truly is an outstanding driving car. Of course, you'll pay quite a bit more but if you plan on keeping it for a long time it may be worth it. Or you can wait to see how the new Lexus IS turns out. It should have great performance and reliability.
Ultimately, you need to consider what you will be happy walking out to every day. If you bought the G35 because it has more horsepower on paper but hate the way it looks are you going to be satisfied? Every car has its pros and cons so take the time to drive comparables. It's your money – spend it on something that makes you happy!
Just make sure you let us know how it turns out.
