2003-2011 [Subscribe to Daily Digest] |
I just replaced my G35 Sport Sedan/.Auto for a new 9-3 Aero. Heres the rundown:
G35 Pros:
- Fast, VERY fast.
- The rear wheel dirve/power combo does an excellent job powering out of curves. Nice!
- Traction control works VERY well! My wife made it to work in 2" of snow with SUMMER TIRES! With Michelin snow tires, it's excellent in the snow. Hard to believe.
- The HP rating on my 2003 was 275. TO be honest, nothign has changed on the engine, so the rating is totally hypothetical. Dealer said the powere was always closer to 300 then 265.
- Back seat room on the G35 is excellent. Very suprising.
G35 CONS:
- Too much Power. I know this sounds strange, but IMHO, too fast for everyday driving. The car does not like to go slow. Driving in bumber to bumber is a bit of the pain, for the transmission wants to keep the car in low gears. Manual shift mode does nothing!
- Gas millage IS HORRIBLE! Not Porshe Turbo horrible, but not far off from my 4-runner! You actually can watch the gas guage go down in city driving. 18mpg is optimistic. Maybe it gets better millage if you drive faster, but in NJ, that's tough to do on a regualr basis.
- Paint Sucks! I waxed that thing 3-4 times a year and it constantly gets paint chips. My 4-Runner has 60K miles and 1/20 fo the amount of paint chips than the Infiniti. Very surprised considering the car was assembled/painted in Japan.
- Bose Stereo is a ripp-off. Not worth the $900. Reception is terrible and the sound is not that great (for the money) Volume control is too basic, only have a 1-10 scale, so it's eaither too loud or too quiet.
- Hate changing into snow/summer tires twice a year!
- Headlights are too low. Almost dangerously low, and this was AFTER the car was recalled to get the headlights fixed.
- Sports suspension is harsh. Wheels are cool, but beware of the ride quality!
- Interior gets rather cheap after time. Silver areas require care. Parchment interior has parchment carpet; guess what that looks like after a few years!
Just got the SAAB, but so far we love it! The fit and finish is nicer than the G, and the stereo is amazing! Don't like the Turbo lag though. The Aero has a much better ride than the G.
