Unfortunately, they want the car before departure. This allows them to finish full payment on the new car 30 days in advance of delivery per Saab requirements. It also puts me out of a car for one month or longer at the front end of the trip to Europe, and 6-8 weeks after dropping the car off in Europe for delivery to the US.

The bad news that I was given today is that Saab requires orders to be placed (with a $1000 non-refundable deposit) 8 weeks prior to delivery. Once the order is placed, Saab will define the vehicle availability date based on orders in the queue some time later. Best case: 6 weeks, worst case: 8 weeks. Since I have a planned Euro vacation in 6 weeks, there is no guarantee that my car would be built in time, and my intinerary is such that I cannot buy a one-way ticket and return whenever my car is ready...

I'm bummed, because I was hoping to be sitting in a new 9-3 Aero sooner rather than later. :(
