9-3SC and surgical removal of factory roof rails.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Has anyone yet removed the factory roof rails from a Sport-Combi? The local Dealer has a new SC on their lot which has the right exterior color and every option my wife wants on the car, but it also has those damnable sled runners bolted to the roof!
I found a web page for these rails which shows that each rail is held by three screws hidden behind removable plastic covers. And I have played enough with the roof trim strips on a 9-3SC without the rails to be certain the trim strips are plastic pieces which simply snap into grooves in the car's roof. But has anyone yet removed the roof rails on their car? How much did the new roof trim strips cost? I sent price quote requests for these strips to both my Dealer's Parts Dept and an aftermarket supplier of Saab parts and body panels, but haven't yet received a reply.
Thanks.
