I've had my SC 2.0T 5-M/T for 5 months and 5200 miles and it keeps me smiling. Previous ride was a '95 900S that is now my 17 yr. old sons car. I'm not really worried about powertrain issues, as long as the oil is changed frequently and the proper synthetic is used. I feel the 10k to 15k mile interval recommended by Saab is just too risky. I will continue to change at 3000 mile intervals, probably overkill, but relatively cheap insurance, especially since I do all my own maintainance. A 5k to 6k mile interval is probably fine for most conditions.
My only quality concerns are the peeling dash issue and electrical issues between the many computer modules that some owners have experienced, especially a concern after the warranty runs out(4yr/50k). I think most of the other european brands that are in this price range also have similar issues.
I have yet to drive an American or Asian brand of car that gives me the driving enjoyment of a Saab. The 2.0T is really a sweet engine coupled with the manual transmission. If I were getting an auto box, I'd be more inclined to go with the V-6(Aero). Also, I highly recommend the 300W audio system if a decent sounding stereo is important to you. (std. on Aero, part of premium pkg. on 2.0T). It's not a killer system, but it does deliver good sound at fairly high levels. Many owners have posted complaints about the lesser systems, and upgrading afterwards can be difficult/expensive.
