Which gas, continued

I have been wondering what I should put in my new 9-3 2.0t, since the manual recommends AON 90 and here in CA the common grades are 87-89-91. It seems my own research would agree with some of the postings here from owners who recommend blending 89 and 91 50-50. One site has an article called "Demystifying Octane Ratings" that I found helpful. More than one article I read indicated that putting too high an octane can cause unburnt gasoline entering the catalytic converter, and agreed with the article I mention on the dangers of too low an octane, despite the lack of knocking.
For those of you have Macs and run Tiger or newer, there is a widget available you can add to Dashboard that will show you the cheapest gas within 20 miles of your zip code for all three grades.
