If done correctly by a good paint guy, it will probably look better than the rest of the car. The last part of your question was really the answer though. dark colors, especially black, show any imperfection,and the fact is, it's just a car, and eventually, no matter how careful you might be, you will see some marks on a black car. wet sanding removes a light layer of the clear coat that is the part with the orange peel,so once it is re-polished out, the hood ought to be better then new. ask your dealer to cover this, and hunt around for a good shop in your area that you choose, not the dealer. he is going to be looking at one thing only....cost.
This technique happens to allow you to have small chips touched up and cleared, then sanded and buffed, and you cannot detect that there was ever a flaw. Only good on non metalic paint so far( unless they have now refined it to include metalics).Good luck
