I completely agree with the need to mandate common sense but of course those of us with the sense to own a Saab would know to turn on lights in rain, which is a law in many states, or at night. I would simply like to be able to turn the headlights off in circumstances when the engine is running but I am parked. I found the first week that I owned my 2006 9-3 Aero that seeing my Xenon lights in the rear view mirror caused a certain subgroup of drivers to consider this a challenge, and I'm not making this up. The most absurd trend I've seen is folks that have had their vehicles wired so that they can drive with just parking lights and fog lights without headlights. Clearly some think this has a major coolness factor but I don't get it.
