Saab Roadside Assistance Still Tries to Jumpstart

My OEM battery failed after 3 years (which I am told is still a long life for such a crappy battery) and the car was in my driveway. Still under roadside assistance warranty, so Saab sent someone. He was directed to try jumpstarting it. He tried and tried, and eventually gave up. The car would receive the charge, then it seemed to short out. However, after the tow and a new battery, the car was fine.

So either I was very lucky, or not all jumps are disastrous. But if what people are saying on this board is right, then Saab Roadside Assistance doesn't have a clue what it is doing. Saab ended up paying for (1) visit by jump-starter; (2) tow by other truck; and (3) replacement of battery at dealer.
