Ben,
This may be stating the obvious but you need to move the junk around as much as possible in various directions and try to open it each time. I'm thinking find a vacant parking lot or other safe place and try hard braking to a stop to shift stuff forward (then try open), if not working, try hard acceleration to shift stuff forward, then try it, then hard cornering one way, S curves etc. If its your lucky day stuff will move out of the way and allow opening. The coathanger idea is also a good one (or perhaps a paint stirring stick...for more leverage). I've had the same problem w/ a desk drawer at home and it usually takes lots of trys before it frees up.
IMHO, the glove box is too big. If I can't reach the stuff at the bottom front location while I'm driving then the size is defeating the purpose of the box (at least for me) (i.e., a handy place to place things I might need to get at while driving or at least while in the drivers seat (like CD's). Nonetheless, I'd rather have it too big than teeny tiny like some of the other new cars these days. I guess we all have to watch how much crap goes in in the future...(sort of like the large side pockets on the old C900's....not long until they are both filled with papers and garbage). ;)
Good Luck
Pat
