Other posters in the past in a similar situation felt they had the right to buy the car at the then lower market value rather than the contractual lease end residual.
GM no longer fully owns GMAC, and some leases have the residual value insured to protect the leasing company from unforeseen market conditions. Both of these may be additional wrinkles. But if Cadillac is accepting current market value counter-offers as the lease buy-out price, then Saab may be too and it is definitely worth trying.
