Greetigs. So it's been a REAL long time since I've last posted on these boards. Up til last August I was the very proud owner of a '99 9³. I had plenty of self installed perf mods in that ride and as such lots of time, love, and pride too.

Long story short, that car died an untimely death last August. As a "replacement" I picked up an '09 VW Jetta Sportwagon. (2.5 liter variant) While the car has plently of convenience features and is very utilitarian, it obviously lacks all of the SAAB-ness that I've been missing.

So, I've been looking at an '09 9³ SS Aero XWD. Wow. I have to say I'm not as fond of the body-style as I was my previous SAAB, but it oozes performance and control. I REALLY dig it. The dealer appears to be working very hard to get me into this car, but I'm continuing to work him over.

My questions are as follows:

Engine-- Is this a GM enigne? As in, will I find this engine, minus the turbo, in an Impala or Malibu? (Not that it really matters, just curious.)

XWD-- Thoughts on the longevity and/or reliability of this system? Did any of the technology come from GM's previous relationship with Subaru or is it completely SAAB homegrown?

SAAB-- Is it a bad time to get into one of these cars given that the future of SAAB is not really set in stone? I understand that it's for sale and dealerships are not really sure if they'll continue to be dealers in the near future.

Thanks in advance,
Scott
