Well it gets interesting. I emailed the service advisor on Saturday and gave him until today to respond before I called up the dealership.
First, I spoke to someone in accounting who wanted to know where I was getting my numbers from. I told her I prefer no to say, but basically read to her the screenshot provided giving the 0.9 hours of labor for the cost of rear oxygen sensor replacement.
She then transferred me to the service advisor who was very aggressive from the get go. He claimed that I agreed to the price when I gave the go ahead over the phone (Not true, I naively gave the go ahead for the job without asking for the price!), and he wanted to know where I was getting my numbers from. Again, I said I prefer not to say and again read the information from the screenshot. He claimed that's only the cost of sensor replacement, there's also the cost of diagnostics (I asked, he said it's $114) and cost of software update (nothing was mentioned about software update over the phone).
I asked to speak to the manager, who called me about 15 minutes later. The manager again wanted to know where I was getting the numbers from, then basically claimed that they were not held to any specific labor hours or charges for any given job, they could charge whatever they wanted for the job ("I could have charged you $2000 for that same job..."). He said the information I had (# of labor hours) was valid for the warranty costs not the actual cost of doing the job(!!). I asked him several times to break down the labor charges for me (i.e. between diagnostics, sensor replacement, software update) and he refused, basically saying there is no breakdown, this is the total cost of the job, you were billed for 3.5 hours of labor. He did say that their standard cost of labor is anywhere from $30-$130 an hour, depending on the complexity of the job.
I do feel ripped off, though I am not sure I have any recourse since I did give the go-ahead for the job over the phone without asking about the cost... I'll just call it a lesson learned and will certainly not be returning there... Thanks everyone for all your responses!
