I found a tool that will do it Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: I considered the rotation with pressure before ordering, SWEDECAR ![]() ![]() |
The downside is that I am now slightly above the cost of the Harbor Freight kit. The upside is that the commonly used 3/8 square drive to the adapters means that I will be able to buy various other sizes in the future if I ever need thsm.
The kit is by OTC and appears to use a hollow drive bolt which presses in the piston. Inside this hollow bolt is a solid rod with a 3/8 square drive post on one end and a knurled knob on the other. This solid center post has a pin driven crosswise thru it near the 3/8 post end which is what the hollow bolt pushes against to drive the piston inwards.
The kit includes the concentric bolt/post assembly, a female threaded crossplate, 5 other adapters (none matching what the 9-3SS requires) and a case. Lowest price I can find for this is ~$38.
Your description matches what I thought I discerned by scanning the photos carefully.
Thanks for the description!
