Went car shopping with with (and for) my wife yesterday. Drove the TL and I was very impressed with how tight the car was, how well it handled and rode. It had a firm ride but not harsh. It handled very well also (It felt as good as if not better than a 9-3 SS). It was also very roomy. The only thing I'm not thrilled with is the egress from the back seat (I feel the back seat is too low for somebody like me to get out of easily). It is a bigger car than the SS. It also seemed to ride smoother (less expansion joint "hop" than the SS). The TL was VERY quiet on the inside and felt "solid".

I own a 2001 9-3. For what you are paying for a TL you get a lot more car for the money than the SS. The torque curve is very flat and I didn't feel that I had to push the RPM's to get power (unlike what others have stated). I believe it has ~240 lb ft of torque.

We also looked at and drove a 2004 Audi A4 1.8 Quattro. The Audi was $1000 more than the TL and much smaller (we need the room because we are both 6'+ tall). It rode nicer and handled somewhat better than the TL (think becuase of the AWD). As others have stated, nothing beats an Audi interior for fit and finish. Audi is raising their base prices significantly and also their gap between invoice and MSRP is smaller (I have a feeling that this is entirely due to the strength of the euro).

Will continue to shop next weekend with looking at an Infinity G35 (AWD) and Passat GLX V-6 (gets rave reviews but I'm not a huge fan of Volkswagen).

Unlike what some have stated, Acura dealers will negotiate a fair price. They might not drop their prices to invoice or below invoice like Saab will, but that in and of itself says a lot about the cars and their price points (I truly believe the SS is overpriced if they are having to offer several thousand dollars in spiffs and rebates to get the cars moving). Nothing like a simple S/D curve to explain why some are having to drop their prices drastically to move cars and other's don't have to.

And then there is also the point of Acuras holding their value and Saab's dropping in re-sale value like a ton of bricks off the Empire State building. Enough said on this topic.

I agree, Saab is losing ground quickly...and this is very bad for all of us.
