Mike's right - go get it yourself if you really want it. I've done it.
I have a black 6-speed and it gets appreciative comments every day. I don't have the 6-speed problems others have clearly had, so I must be lucky. All I can say is test drive it hard with the 1-2, 3-4 shifts and see if it grinds.
As for '05, if they don't make it AWD then it can't really improve too much in my opinion.
Look-the 6-speed is fun, period. It can't really be rationalized for performance, revs, etc. Saab's autos are pretty good. Another gear is just entertaining.
I've always thought that manual transmissions are safer than automatics because the driver must be more involved and aware of the car at all times (speed, revs, control)...
