And just because you bought it with a dent, doesn't make it any less dented. Any repaint of a roof is an easy $500-1,000 all by itself. By my calculations your dealers offer is about "2 back", which is a decent bid for an 8 year old Saab, with a dent. Remember if you kept your '96 you'd be going into that $500-1,000 60,000 mile maintenance cycle, which is what your dealer will spend on the car, if it doesn't need anything. If it needs anything at all, tires, brakes, repairs, dent repair, add that to the $500-1,000.

Sounds like your dealer is doing a great price on a rare 2004 Saab and hasn't left themselves any place to fluff the value of your trade and has offered you good wholesale money.

If you want to sell it yourself, have the time and the where withall, an older car like yours in that price range is a good private sale candidate. People will have cash for a car in that range. I sold my 96 900SE last year for $7k on SaabNet.
