I agree that something is wrong with the picture. A slipping clutch doesn't heal itself and then come back a year later. You obviously know how to drive a clutch. Saab clutches are excellent. So, what's going on?
Are you sure it's slipping? Maybe something else is happening, but if it is something that interferes with the clutch action and induces slipping, then the clutch will get destroyed.
Get it properly diagnosed. A brutal test is to put the front of the car up against a smooth strong wall, put it in 5th, raise the revs and ease out the clutch. The car should stall. If there's any slippage, you'll know it.
