Where does the boost needle go on you 2001 Aero?

Hello all of you, I just got my very first 9 5 and it´s an aero. Very nice car from USA, black with tan leather and automatic trans. It is a great car to drive and all but something tells me it should be more powerful, my high expectations maybe to high but I had (and still have) a ´89 2.0 turbo with auto trans. and the diffrence is not so great in the 0-60 zone, but after that, yes another story. But the boost needle only goes a 3/4 into the yellow zone, is this normal? If not what can I do? Does the octan rating matter? Does the trionic adjust it self after the fuel used?
Thanks in advance, Jón Gunnar Kristinsson
