Well, my DIC went last year and since the 9-5 Aero was still under warranty, I had it replaced at Satan Monica Saab. It only took two tries before they finally believed my excellent indie mechanic (bjorn at Swedish Motors) and myself.
So you can imagine how peeved I was when the one-year old DIC began to act up this spring. We looked at the codes: random engine misfire. Great. These would come up once a week. I bought a spare DIC to be safe. We take long trips and all we need is a dead DIC in the Owens Valley or wherever.
Finally the check engine lights just got too annoying. I wanted to replace the DIC with the one in the trunk, but Bjorn thought I was wasting my money. Finally we compromised, we'd pull the plugs and give that a try. There you go: the plugs, which were replaced along with the DIC at Satan Monica Saab were completely loose! They weren't tightened with a torque wrench and could be spun easily by hand.
Guess what: no more problems! I sure hope I get a job in San Diego because if I buy another Saab from a dealer, I sure hope it's Mike Lynch, not Satan Monica Saab (this is only one of many such misfires on their part!).
