I wish you were missing something. I've tried this and there is really no place to get the mic in there. ABout all you can do is approximate the size of the lip and use original thickness of the rotor to estimate what might be left. I suppose if you just pull the pads though you could get in there but his is almost the same as pulling the whole caliper.
