Again disclaiming 9-5 specific info, but on my '96 900SET (no dual zone, though) the heater box flap wouldn't close all the way, so for the warm season, I removed the stepping motor (a small disk-shaped thing), then manually closed the flap by moving the linkage with my hand. Then I re-installed the motor, but left the electrical connecter off. That way the "dead" motor served to lock the flap linkage in the closed position. Later, I went back in and by trial and error determined - in mine anyway - that a previous shop (not Anders) during a heater core replacement had misaligned the motor so it didn't engage the linkage correctly. So by basically taking it apart and putting it back together a few times, I accidentally fixed it. Watching things move when you hit AUTO+OFF a few times will give you a good orientation to who does what under there.
/Geoff
