Received that letter as well.
totally agree with your attitude regards Saab, excepting the GM commentary. I've been disappointed with Saab's approach towards both acknowledging and satisfying issues with their cars which are clearly a result of shortcomings in the area of design and/or maintenance recommendations. They do not and are not attempting to make it a owner friendly experience. Lots of readily recognizable signs of a maker struggling to stay viable and retaining customers should be important.
I've never had a problem with my turbos, or sludge, or oil consumption in any car I've operated, and I do all my own maintenance and nearly all of the repair work. I'd be livid if I had a sludge problem and a claim was denied because I do not keep records or use a Saab OEM oil filter.
It's bad enough I have a leaky crank seal due to the botched design of the PCV system.
Anyone on MSN happen to see the new Sonata announcement from Hyndai(SP) ?10 yr power train warranty and I drove one of the old 05 models before finding my 2004 ARC, and I can tell you that it was an ok car at a very attractive price. their reliabilty ratings are now very, very good.

1999 9-5 SE 95,000 mi. extensive amount of warranty work
2004 9-5 ARC shaky at idle on cold mornings, but much better car than my 1999
