I recently upgraded from a 1999 V6 to a 2002 Aero. I am sure there were some significant changes between 2002 and 2005 but I noticed some differences between my two cars other than the obvious improvements in power, handling, and seat comfort. Some of these differences may have been specific to my cars and not necessarily design differences.
I find the 2002 quieter in every way inside the car. It may in fact be noisier outside the car but I really don't care about that.
The leather in the 2002 is pebbled instead of smooth. Personally I prefer the smooth leather in my 99 but I don't think there is any difference in quality.
The AC in the 1999 was marginal. despite repeated attempts the dealer maintained that it was within spec. No such problem with my 2002. It blows freezing cold air. Another chronic issue I no longer have to deal with is the high speed vibration that dogged the 1999. New tires and Road Force balancing did not solve the problem.
Despite my complaints I really liked my 1999. The seats alone in the 2002 are worth the extra money.
