In general the 2.3 of the 9-5 is rougher than the 2.0 of the 900s-9-3s, so you'll likely never be happy with your 9-5 with a 900 as your measuring stick, at least on that point, idle roughness, everywhere else you should be delighted.
Perhaps a sample of the dealer's 9-5's in inventory, or other availible 9-5s, will give you a better standard and appreciation for the relatively normal 9-5 four cylinder engine vibes at idle.
